I'm a Runner. Remember Me?

Here's just a glimpse of the events that occurred in the last 3+ months. I will then elaborate in my upcoming, consistent posts.

In May, I managed to cover 92.5 miles, and ran Stomp The Monster 5k with the love of my life!

As for June, I began slowing down with only 60 miles, and ran Run For Dad 5k, which happened to be on Father's Day.

By July, I slacked off with a measly 30 miles, but I ran my first mud race Merrell Down & Dirty Mud Run 10k!

It's August, and I'm starting to train seriously again. So far, I've done 10 miles, and signed up for a half marathon in October, and another 5k in September.

There you have it people.

Back in the running game!

I'm glad to be home.

P.S. Here's the final edition of the collage as promised:

I am Warrior... for completing yet Another Goal!!!

Week 2 of training has come to a close, which means week 3 has begun!

As for April goal #2- I have achieved and exceeded the previously failed February goal to run my age (27 miles) to celebrate the birthday with a bang!

April has definitely proven to be a success, running 32 miles in total so far (there are still 2 more days left in the month!)

Here is an update of the before & after run collage:

Have a fantastic and strong weekend!

Scored a goal!

Goal #1 is DONE!

I aimed to match and trump February's 13.8 miles. How many have I completed as of today?

14 miles baby!!! That's 0.2 miles more than I had anticipated this early in the "game."

On to Goal #2... Reach the intended February "Birthday" 27 miles.

Only 13 miles to go!!

I've been taking pictures since day 1 of training. They are photos of me before and after each run :)

Warrior Dash - Bring it on!

You read that right. I'm going to brave the Warrior Dash in Pennsylvania on June 12!

Let the training begin!

Thursday (April 13) was Day 1 of training. I also ran on Friday, and today, Sunday. My total distance so far is 10 MILES!!!

Only 3.2+ miles left till I reach my first "mini" goal by surpassing the mileage accumulated in February, and to make up for that failed goal.

As for the much anticipated Warrior Dash, I will only be representing a warrior. The true warrior is a man braver than anyone I know. A beautiful person both inside and out battling cancer. He has no choice but to fight every day. He doesn't have the luxury to decide or make excuses for how sick he feels one day to the next.

He is my inspiration. A motivation more powerful than I can ever put into words. Just when I'm beginning to procrastinate or give up on training, all I have to do is think of him. If he can't choose, how can I? I can't. Quitting is not an option.

Reminds me of this quote from an Eminem song, "You can sound the alarm. You can call out your guards. You can fence in your yard. You can pull all the cards. But I won't back down!"

Back in Action: Mending broken goals

Unpredictability.
It's what makes the world delightfully interesting and horribly distressing. That could explain why the limbic system in the brain controls both laughter and crying. Both emotions are complete opposites, but you can't have one without the other.

Where am I going with this, you may ask?

Back in February, specific running goals were set, but never met. You can thank the "lovely" spontaneous nature of life that's been thrown in my direction. The entire universe seems to be trying to sabotage my life, Initially, weakness took control, and was leading me down an empty hopeless road.

NOT anymore!

There are much greater and braver challenges people face. How can I simply quit? I must get back up, dust myself off, and continue on with the journey by creating goals that will be met.

For the month of April, my goal is to at least meet head to head with February's miles, and hopefully surpass them.

This past Thursday was Day 1 of my running goal, and I have already accumulated 6 miles. Only 7.8+ MILES to go!!!

***We shall never allow anything or anyone to defeat or destroy our self worth!

Saturday, April 9, 2011

Do you need a more heart wrenching motivation to help quit?

Why does the FCC allow "almost" sex scenes, but not an ad to help save lives???

Valentine's Day.

24 hours filled with flowers, chocolates, love...

and Running?

My goal to run 27 miles for the month of February has just crawled over the half way point!

So far I've managed to run a total of 13.8 miles towards this months goal.

Only 13.2 miles to go!

After Friday's 3.7 miler, I grabbed the camera, set the self timer, and snapped a picture of my kooky winter running attire.

27 GOALS!

Yesterday, I celebrated my 27th birthday!

Obviously, it's a joyous occasion, but I wasn't feeling satisfied going from 26 to 27.

I hadn't run as much as I should have, and to be honest, I hardly ran at all. I didn't run in any races. I never got to the fitness level I was striving for. Not even close.

This is just a small portion of my many failures throughout the year 2010, when I was 26.

I don't want to experience the same heartache when I turn 28. I've decided to start the new year off with a simple goal. To have run 27 miles by the end of my birthday month of February 2011!

Let the challenge begin!

So far I have run 10.1 miles for the month of February. Only 16.9 miles to go! Will I meet this goal by the end of the month?

Flashback!!! NYC Marathon 2009!

Before the marathon, my longest run was 8 miles. How I did 26.2 miles is beyond my comprehension.

The first half of the marathon was surprisingly a breeze! My half marathon time 13.1 miles was 2:34! Not too shabby if you ask me.

Then it went downhill from there on.

I started feeling sick, vomiting, and in pain just about everywhere! I stopped at a medical tent for a bit. After sitting amongst the other runners keeled over and moaning, I got my butt out of there, and didn't look back!

I continued to run, or rather drag my weakened, injured body towards the 26.2 mile finish line. I continued to vomit here and there. I cried. I cursed. Every time I wanted to quit I told myself that I've gotten this far, how can it end now, and have all the hard work and pain mean nothing.

Fast-forward several hours later, and there I was, crawling across the finish line! The resulting time was 6:58. Not the most exciting number to the world, but to me, the race was over, and I reached the finish line, alive!

Let this be a lesson to all. Please train sufficiently! I pushed off the training to the point of less than 6 weeks of training! Train your butt off. It'll be worth it in the end!

Back in SNOW action!

Who in their right mind begins to train in heaping piles of snow and enough icy patches to fill several hockey rinks?

Does this goofy picture answer the question?

Had to take many detours as I was running around the lake, but managed to get in 3.3 miles.

Recap!

I'd like to get this blog up and "running" again. Since it's been a long time since updating, here's a recap of how things have been going these past couple of years.

1. Did I run the NYC 2009 Marathon?

Yes! It was amazing, and I will elaborate on the entire experience in my upcoming posts.

2. Push up, and Pull up challenge?

I've been off my game, but I will be back in no time, and I will reach my goals!

3. The Lakewood Running Club?
I started a running club a little while back, but have yet to get more people involved, and in this weather, forget about it.

My Push up & Chin up Challenge!

As most of you know from my videos, I love doing push ups and chin ups. Not only that, but I like outdoing myself every time I do them.

My ultimate goals:
*PUSH UPS-100
*CHIN UPS-50

As for my present goals, I'd like to be able to do 50 push ups to out do my previous 30, and 10 chin ups to out do my previous 5.

I also want you all to know, how I was never able to do those exercises. One day, I just decided that I wanted to be able, at the very least, complete " 1 " push up & chin up... And here I am today very much beyond that point. So, if I can do them, anyone can. You just have to put your mind to it, and tell yourself that NOTHING is impossible! There will be a number of times you try, but still aren't able, but that does not mean you should quit, because one day, out of nowhere, you will suddenly perform the exercise, and you will feel so incredible about yourself!

SO, don't give up, be strong, and don't let your body tell you what you can or can't do!

NYC MARATHON TRAINING!

I've decided to run in the New York City Marathon of 2009! (which is a little over 10 months away)
By that time, I must be able to run 26 miles without passing out half way to the finish line.
Until then, I'm going to train my ass off, and run in other various 5k, 10k, half marathons, etc.
As you can see, I'm telling the world, which means, I'm going to be blogging my training from this past tuesday (which is when I officially started training for the marathon), till the day of the race, November 1, 2009.
It's going to be really tough to train for, so I'm bringing everyone along for the ride.
I'll jot down my training detail from food to exercise, running, racing, and ranting about the whole experience.
There will also be videos of my improved push ups, chin ups, and other exercises.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Take care and Tough it Out!
